Cauvery water vs borewell water — does Cauvery water need RO in Bangalore?

Cauvery water reaches the BWSSB treatment plant fairly clean. But by the time it travels through decades-old pipes, overhead tanks and sumps to your kitchen tap, things change.

Cauvery water — what you actually get

• TDS usually 150–400 ppm — within drinking range
• Chlorine residue (added at treatment plant)
• Pipeline contamination — rust, sand, sometimes bacteria after a burst
• Sump & overhead-tank biofilm if not cleaned regularly

So do you need RO?

If your tap is 100% Cauvery with TDS < 300, a UV + UF purifier (like the Aqua Kline M Series UV variant) is enough. But most Bangalore homes get a mix of Cauvery and borewell — and on borewell days, TDS can shoot above 800. For mixed supply, RO is the safer long-term choice.
